South Plains Church of Christ is a fellowship of disciples who believe in the Lordship of Jesus Christ who have joined God’s mission by becoming a loving, growing, and sending community of disciples led by the Holy Spirit.
- We believe in one eternal God who is the Creator of all things. God exists in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. God is totally loving and completely holy; perfect in all things.
- We believe that all people bear the image of God, possess intrinsic dignity and worth, and are to be treated accordingly.
- We believe Jesus Christ, as both God and man, is the only One who can reconcile us to God. He was miraculously placed on earth in the flesh, lived a sinless and exemplary life, died on the cross in our place, and rose again to announce his victory over sin and death to call us to life in him.
- We believe sin has separated each of us from God and, as a result, we are called through Christ to forgiveness by God’s grace, which we receive by faith through repentance and baptism.
- We believe disciples of Jesus have the gift of the Holy Spirit by which they are granted freedom, power, and unity through loving fellowship with and service to others.
- We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God and is authoritative and applicable for our lives as disciples.
- We believe the church is the body of Christ, of which Jesus is head and by whom all are welcome.
- We believe all Christians are expected to be fully devoted disciples of Jesus Christ who are commissioned to love, grow, and live like Jesus Christ in our world.
- We believe in weekly communion as the body of Christ to remember the sacrifice of Christ and his glorious resurrection.
- We believe the kingdom of God has come and is coming as the Lord Jesus Christ has promised.
- We believe men and women are equally valued in the eyes of God and thus exercise their gifts in ministry. Out of consideration for unity in our church family, we reserve the following roles to men: (a) those who serve as Elders, and (b) those who lead our worship.
- We believe Scripture teaches God intends for sexual relations to be reserved for marriage between a man and a woman as God created them male and female.
- We believe singing is an integral part of our worship to God. Therefore our leadership agrees to these 3 points: (1) Singing in worship assemblies will be acapella, (2) Worship with instruments is not a sin, and (3) Instrumental music may be used in other areas of worship; such as videos, illustrations, and announcements.
