The Pillow Ministry
This ministry was created in 2004 when a pediatric nurse from the congregation asked if there was a possibility of creating small pillows more suited to baby- and child-sized bodies than the big bulky adult pillows provided by the hospital where she worked. From there, the ministry has grown to a group of ladies who faithfully come to the Annex building every Tuesday at 10:00 am and work until noon producing the 9" x11 pillows that are delivered once a month to the Covenant Children's hospital. Pillows are used in several ways, but the most gratifying for us is when we hear they are held by the children to help calm fears from a scary experience they might not understand and remind them that Jesus loves them.

In addition to the pillows, the group makes "medical dolls" which helps hospital staff explain a medical procedure(s) to know what to expect. We have just recently added neck pillows to our list so when we visit those who are shut-ins of the congregation, they have something that reminds them they are very much missed and thought about.
In return for the time spent producing the pillows and dolls, this group of ladies continues to grow close as we learn more about each other through laughter, tears, life events and stories, and being in the company of wonderful Christian women.
There are some jobs that don't require sewing skills, but the sewing can be learned with minimal effort. Everyone is welcome to come check and see if this ministry sounds like something you might want to be involved with.
